Brazilians are still remitting money to their relatives here, but we still have immigrants from places where work is scarce and the poverty at levels Americans can't conceive. Like being invited in for dinner and then taking it on yourself to turn down the next guest who arrives. Anyhow, more and more a moot point as people find they can do better in their own country than our flagging economy. Sigh. AFAIK the pre-Columbian Native Americans didn't HAVE any laws against immigration so AFAIK the Pilgrims by definition could not have been ILLEGAL immigrants. You can't break a law that's not there. Me saying that does NOT constitute being anti-immigration OR soft-pedaling what European colonists did to the Native Americans. I'm just sayin'.
