Years ago I had an especially cranky cat. The vet feared for his life giving her a shot, so he put her back in her carrier and took her out of the exam room for a few minutes. When he came back, he looked unscathed, the cat dazed. He'd put the carrier on an office chair and given it a good long spin. Then he pulled her out and gave her the shot while she was still reeling. It works for giving combative cats pills, too, BTW. Works for other critters, too. Years ago I had an especially cranky cat.
