I'd blitzed through the whole original series in the mid-to-late 200X's, well after the 2003 ending! OMG, much catching up to do...now to see if I can locate the classic strip I was looking for, very near, if not at the end of, the classic run: Bruno's Halloween costume ("I'm a drunken loser at a par-tay!" / "Sure, but what's your <i>costume</i>?") mother-pus-buckets, this strip is alive again?
