It was always just where I happened to be at the moment, and I have no nostalgia for any of them. I think Bruno's rootlessness is part of the reason I empathize with her. As for her relationships, they, like mine, have been simultaneously comforting and constricting. A very troublesome dilemma. Because to some guys, in some situations, that excuses everything. What do women want their boyfriends/husbands to bring home for them (again, as a cliche)? Flowers or candy or that kind of thing. What do men want their girlfriends/wives to bring home for them?
