You have only to talk five minutes with a proponent of 'religious liberty' to realize they mean the freedom to extinguish other faiths and their followers, indeed to extinguish democracy itself in favor of Christianist theocracy. They want the US to look like a Christianist Iran, only not as conciliatory. These people want to build camps and ovens so bad, you can smell the sulfur on their breath. The irony is, of course, sickening & heart-breaking. Having now really brought down the room, I'll try to pick things up a bit by recommending "Asimov's Guide to the Bible," by, of course, Dr. Isaac Asimov, for lots of interesting context and details from both Testaments that are easily missed by most. Seriously, IMHO it and The Bible should be sold as a shrink-wrapped-together set.
