Amy just doesn't want to feel bad for something Bruno is not leaving her a lot of choice about. Bruno is implying that it isn't her job to fix her own problems, and for an adult to say that to a very aware, intelligent teen is pretty frustrating.

I never understood why many adults refuse to admit their faults if they're pointed out by children. If a child can see an adult's mistakes, why pretend otherwise; maybe to save face? I'd be more ashamed to not fix the mistake despite being told off by someone younger, if they're right it would be foolish to dismiss them just because of age.

Fortunately, Bruno thinks of her as a human being first, and doesn’t believe in either of those societal rules.

Oh, and since Bruno and Amy are first cousins, Amy's copping this attitude not just with a "friend" but with FAMILY. Some people think family is inherently important in and of itself. But whatever.

How old is Amy supposed to be again?

Young enough that a noticeable percentage of people wouldn't consider it appropriate for her to speak to an adult like this, I think.
