The awful, resonant truth is that life really is what we make of it. Want answers? Then life is a quest for answers, annoyingly presenting you with new questions whose answers now take precedence. Want to bask in the glory of Creation? You can, but your stomach is going to ask when you're going to eat and your back will wonder where the shelter is that keeps off the rain. And the cold.

Your discomfiture will always take precedence in such matters, because we take our physical well-being so seriously and so much of what you want to do, and think, and be, must be suborned to that which produces money to buy food, and shelter, the occasional drink or night out. You can let your life dictate its terms to you, or you can face those terms, fish out what's worthy pursuing, and go after that. It may not be all that remunerative. But the satisfaction it brings is clearer and more penetrating that sunlight at dawn. On the whole, worth it.
