I’ve never had a liking for blanket statements from the bottom or top or any direction. Not that there aren’t truths to some, but universality just rubs me oh so the wrong way.

If there were jobs for “cynicism,” I would have many friends who could apply. Once upon a time I could, but although I’m in general philosophically on the cynical side, it no longer “takes most of my time” and so I’m out of practice.

I think my face would be pretty stiff (or “priceless”) too, if I were doing the mambo on a tight rope.

A big part of daily comic writing is to write kids with adult attributes, and adults with kid attributes (the irony creates the humor). In this case it’s a trait I find terribly endearing, when a child asks an adult if the adult will be alright, to help bolster their own confidence.

Being a hermit living alone in a big house in the woods, 30 is a big number indeed. I didn’t want to gloss over that fact. Apparently, neither did Stanley.

Ah. So much of life is perspective. You can view a circus on your doorstep at the moment of a newly burgeoning romance as an interruption, or on the new light of morning realize how much of a joy it is.
