The right place in the right time. I’ve had a few incidences of that in my life. A good feeling.
Hard to deflect when you’re drunk. :-/
The problem with drunk friends is that they will tell you they are alright even when they are not. Hard to know when to step in (especially since Mike barely knows her). (And a reminder: she is living in Portland, OR now, Northampton being where she DID live in Massachusetts)
Portland is a pretty well ordered city to find your way around in, as cities go, but it still can present challenges.
Taking advantage of others, especially those weaker or incapacitated, is one of my pet peeves. This obviously being a over-the-top example (not that it isn’t unrealistic, although it is more likely to happen by a friend or family member).
I always viewed Doris as a sort of guardian angel, and I even somewhat respectfully gave her a strong religious belief to go with it. This is one of the scenes where it comes out, as she steps out of nowhere, flaming sword brandished.
using the “BUDdy system” is such a lame joke, except for someone who is stoned. Then it is hilarious. Which makes it hilarious to everyone else too.
Bruno is so lucky she isn’t tossed directly out of bed for such mind wanderings.
Things to talk cautiously about: politics and religion. These days: diet as well.
