Anyone remember what date Matthew (the homeless gentleman) appeared before? I’ll try to look it up tomorrow.
A few times in my life people have covertly brought me writings/drawings they’ve done, and it’s always much more sweet than they realize.
Funny how with all the dialogue, the entire tone is very much set (out of many possibilities) by Bruno’s playful smile.
I wonder if I did that to help define her character, or simply to add levity since it is a “humor” comic strip after all.
When writing Matthew, I imagine someone so far outside of society’s norms might believe that publishers only push drivel. Perhaps as a conspiracy.
So… years later, I was on a sailboat in Washington. It was owned by a friend of a friend. And I was talking with the boat owner, and come to find out he was a psychiatrist FROM the Northampton area. And i said something like, “ah, wasn’t it horrible what they did about the hospital, etc etc.” Come to find out, he was the man who made the DECISION to shut it down. Oops! Awkward!
Ahhhh…. small world. :)
It will never sit right with me that we don’t take care of our homeless. NOBODY should be homeless in this day and age. Makes me so angry and sad.
I am now in a relationship with a Nurse Practitioner of Psychiatry. I wonder what i would have written if I’d had her to consult. hmmm.
Sometimes I realize how much of a gift it is to be able to act and thing rationally. What a strange world we live in.
Randall was always such an enigmatic character. I thought taking away his complete stoner personality would make him less lovable, but I don’t think it ever did.
Acting in the moment can be hard, especially when social norms air other people are telling you it isn’t yet the moment to act.
