I remember first hearing the second half of that expression, and being utterly tickled by it. :)
It was weird moving fro the NE to the NW. There is so much history and developed “importance” of NYC, that being so far from it was an odd perspective…. even though it’s not like I often go to NYC. Hrm.
“Love” is such an ambiguous word with a zillion meanings, it can be a complex thing to utter.
For some reason it pleases me immensely that Jules doesn’t try to answer her problem. A practical fellow.
The thing was, at the time i wrote this I knew I really needed to see a psychiatrist/therapist, but it was also at a time when affording that was pretty impossible.
I classify “need” in the same category as “deserve.” Whereas sometime you actually DO need things, it is usually bandied about meaning “want.”
Ha! This was me wishing I could afford therapy, and recalling it from back before I’d left me good job in Massachusetts. While other cartoonists were writing their wish fulfillment fantasies of being muscle bound, hitting bad guys, and getting the girl… I was merely hoping to get my head to work right. :)
Probably the sweetest strip I wrote of her dad thus far.
It was fun having Bruno reveal that she wanted to see a therapist, and have EVERYONE go “sounds like a good idea” (in so many words).
