If you ever start thinking “can I get out of this thing, because I want to do something else,” you are not necessarily a jerk, in some situations it’s perfectly fine, but I urge you to consider the realistic impact on the person/people you’re standing up. :)
Yeah, being right so often sucks, and then it’s supposed to be some kind of moral consolation. I just never felt it.
I like this strip because I think it contains a pretty horrible truth (from what i’ve observed), although I think that it may not be clear that the boredom is with the person they’re in the relationship with, and not just a general “I’m bored, i think I’ll mess with them” kind of thing.
It’s also interesting to read this and know what will go on between Lenny and Susan later on in the strip.
Yeah, another pitfall of writing is the blending of real and not-real. Sometimes I think I sound like I’m raving mad. Of course, I’m not.

Moving really does make one think about one’s pets. A lot of pets (cats more than dogs, I believe) get really quite distressed by moving home. But… they don’t have to find a way to buy the cat food I suppose. :)
