Ah, the spiraling of self-doubt. Always a theme to entertain.
This strip was drawn in an indoor garden attached to the skyways. I’m not sure the name and couldn’t find it with a quick search. But I remember it being very pleasant.
I’m not sure why I always used Catholicism, but I always meant it kinda to symbolize the institution of religion in its many forms.
I like Bruno’s willingness to find Christ in her life in this strip. As long as he’s in the Trade Center.
I liked the ridiculous idea that you could get lost in the Minneapolis skyways and end up in the St Paul skyways. I also had a good time wandering the skyways and drawing and taking pictures for these backgrounds. :)
The label was inspired by the Pig’s Eye Brewing Company, although they make beer, not “hard liquor.” I was amused by the story of the company, “named after Piere “Pig’s Eye” Parrant, a probably French-Canadian man who became the first resident of Saint Paul and operated a tavern out of Fountain Cave near what is now downtown.”*
The breakfast is inspired because drinking makes me hungry for greasy food.

The music is the replacements “I don’t Know” off of “Pleased to Meet Me.”
And I remember going to a number of dances like this when I was that age, even enjoying the “mosh pit” from time to time. Why not now? I’m not sure, although my bad knee is my best excuse. ;)
The punchline is all good, clever and all that, but the real sentiment I think i wanted to get across was this. I don’t drink a lot, largely because I don’t have the time to drink nor to recover. But sometimes I need to. I need to just stop being responsible for a moment and watch the stars get blurry.
