There’s a key link from Bruno to Jay, she desperately wanted some sort of higher meaning, while rationally being unable to believe there could be.
I remember this being a big revelation for me. It’s something I still have to occasionally remind myself of.
I think this sums up how I romantically look at traveling, and how it ends up looking in reality.
And I will be at the science fiction convention “Norwescon†in the Dealers Room all weekend (Thur-Sun), in Seatac WA, so stop by! (sadly, no Book #2 yet, I won’t have it for another couple weeks). It was interesting to try to write snippets of a story, without a lot of plan, and have it sporadically in the strip. I think it’s not great, but is a silly fun little side story in the strip.

I think Jeremy’s first reply is very astute. However, perhaps Bruno simply wishes for something to complain about, and working at the convenience store WON’T inspire change.
As a writer of serial stories, I found sometimes when in a rut it helped to bring a big changer in so everyone in the story would have to deal with it. With Little Dee, it was a minivan full of penguins.
