I’ve always loved this strip, and even made a mug for it back in 1998 or so. I still have a few mugs of it and it makes me happy every tie i drink out of it. :)
Well, dang, she WAS getting too happy. besides, it was worth bringing her down for the punchline. :)
Walking off with no destination in the middle of winter (when this strip originally ran) is indeed rather foolish. Lenny is a very good friend for telling her so — although he could be a bit more gentle about it.
This strip was just me wanting to use the word “scuttle,” although I perhaps could have thought of a less graphic way of doing so.
It’s also a nod to when I decided to hitchhike cross country in high-school and had little more than a couple of sandwiches in my bag. it was a very short trip.
Sometimes flattery is not intended. People sweeter than Lenny perhaps allow the misunderstanding to continue.
I think that’s a fair summary of crappy jobs. But at least you don’t have to take them home with you.
Sheesh, she KNOWS that wouldn’t cheer him up, the little devil that she is.
I find Deepak kinda’ cheery, but not very fulfilling.
