I used to have bad habits of talking out loud, and then my thoughts getting into circular patterns, and it became pretty self-destructive. It’s weird to read it now, so many years later, and see those patterns in print.
Susan’s two fingers lowering the cast iron pan is one of my favorite moments in the run of the strip. It’s simply so… quiet.

When I used to live in the colder New England area (currently in Seattle), I recall the bleakness of mid-winter. Freezing cold out, dark at around 4:00, and it can come out as one of two things: cozy or utterly isolating.
