As you may guess, I actually did a fair amount of reading on wiccan (and other) marriage celebrations. I think I mostly found info on the internet, although back in 1997 there was so little. World before Wiki, how strange!
I think old traditions like handfasting and jumping the broom are pretty fascinating. If I ever get married, i think it would be a nice addition.
I just read Nora Robert’s “Three Sisters Island” trilogy. They said “So Mote It Be” a lot. I guess is be common magic talk.
Symbolism in fiction can be broken up into two categories. One is based on societal preconceived ideas that the reader brings to the table, such as a four-leaf clover might mean luck. The other is based on things established within the story, such as the original Cinderella where her mother is buried under a weeping willow, and her fancy dress and such come from its branches.
I like the second kind. I like that this car carries a lot of weight of the relationship between Jay and Bruno.
I’ve had some awkward moments like this, where words have pushed people away when I haven’t even known what words they were, and when I later have seen them, I’m terrified to say similar words.
