I always loved Dije’s huge personality. I have friends like that, and they always make me smile.

Dije may CALL him king, but Dije will never actually forfeit the argument. That’s how he rolls.
One of my favorite mixed metaphors in the whole run of the strip.
Ugh. The feeling when things which usually bring you pleasure do not. It is a horrible horrible feeling.
I believe this was around when i was introduced to Herriman’s work, both “Krazy Kat” and “Archy and Mehitabel” (which he did with Don Marquis). Both of them so lovely.
This strip really captures something, something that’s had to put into words.
I remember when writing this period of time, I adored the character of Dije, but partly because he pushed bruno to new places. And then a time came where she needed to push back, and raise their relationship to a higher place.
I used to love getting a Honkin’ Burrito on Red Square in Portland. Yum!
As much as I might grind my teeth in the moment, sometimes I really like someone who won’t really listen to me, and pushes me in a good way.
Although I’m not sure where I would put Dije in that definition.
