A funny twist on Bruno. She brought the circus in on Stanley (practically), and now she’s feeling overwhelmed and considering leaving the mess for his to clean up.
It was interesting writing the strip when the protagonist had complex feelings which I often simultaneously identified with and was repelled by.

I like people who find a sense of humor even during difficult times. I mean yes, give it the gravity it deserves, and respect others who may wish to “not be cheered up,” but also, remember that being gloomy isn’t going to change anything.
This is so like the end of the Wizard of Oz.
I think my favorite part of creating this strip was drawing him hiding loaves in his shirt.
I think this was partially inspired by my high school principal disliking me. Teachers seemed to feel I was unfairly targeted, but were afraid to do much about it. I stuck to my guns, though, and once a teacher went as far as to tell me “sometimes when hitting your head you have to recognize it’s just a brick wall and it’s best to move on.”
Ah, fun memories.
See? Testing her memory of the digits of pi is far less effective a method of determining if she’s feeling better than THIS is.
Although, with strips like this, i felt a little guilty because her feelings are not directed, she’s depressed just for the gag. if she was going to be down, I tried to make it for actual reasons (or feelings).
I like to remind myself, especially when having asinine thoughts like this, that most swords are double edged.
Consanguineous: relating to or denoting people descended from the same ancestor. I think she meant it as, “relating to or denoting people, words, or ideas descended from the same origin.” I do so much love stretching and abusing words. :)
Oh, and I love Stanley’s mug-holding hand. As an artist, I find it always feels good when I draw a good hand.
