I think this was partially inspired by my high school principal disliking me. Teachers seemed to feel I was unfairly targeted, but were afraid to do much about it. I stuck to my guns, though, and once a teacher went as far as to tell me “sometimes when hitting your head you have to recognize it’s just a brick wall and it’s best to move on.”
Ah, fun memories.
