Yeah, the whole concept of a fallback plan if other plans don’t work out is a weird twisted little concept, and seems sadly attractive to those afraid of commitment.
I’m afraid this strip comes out of my own frustration from relationships where it was felt I spent too much time on my work. Not to say i didn’t, but my philosophy still stands: we’re all crazy, we just need to find someone with complimentary psychosis.
It is tough when you’re the one doing the breaking up, and you want to remain friends, and they’re not so much into it. :-/
