Sometimes there are certain people I meet like Martin, and it just doesn’t seem they pursue relationships, and I never see them in them, and have a hard time imagining them in one. Not in a judgemental way, just in a ponderous way.

I’m 90% certain that it was Purke that I saw and that he was in a sling (the sueggstion that I confused him with Paul Applebee is like mistaking Shane McCatty for Rob Wort). What surgery, if any, was done I can’t confirm and wouldn’t dare to speculate. But the inference that something was done is both logical and fair for any pitcher that’s gone nearly seven weeks without appearing in a game.
