This strip was a vendetta to my housemate’s cats, who i loved but who kept eating my spider plants down to the roots.

Are you sure that’s not Longing *for* Food?
One of our cats is a real spiderplant aficionado. He doesn’t gnaw it down to the roots, though. The spiders are the part he likes. We haven’t found a place for the plant that he can’t eventually reach. Given how hard he works for them, and how dearly he loves them, maybe we should just give up trying to thwart him. (Oddly, none of the other cats has shown the slightest interest in the plant.)
