Man-o-man-o-man. Do you remember Y2K? Everyone wondering if the computers would all collapse and planes would start falling out of the sky, and in a week we’d be living in hunter-gatherer tribes.
I was in L.A. at the time. Not more reassuring.

Understandable. Some 80%+ of the LA basin’s drinking water comes from reservoirs on the other side of the mountains. If the power failed to them, in less than a week the city would be uninhabitable. I keep picturing all those Angelenos driving to Lake Mead, and pushing the early arrivals into the water over their heads… Good thing we IT people made sure that didn’t happen, eh?
Not everyone.
I think the drought is going to accomplish that scenario now…just a little more slowly. I hope to be out of L.A. by then.
