Your “fake self” is much like many lies we tell other — Â something in our mind has told us “this works” and so we cannot see that anything else could be real.
And mannnn, I had forgotten about the double-pantry of that house, nice.

Sartre said that we are all impersonating an identity, which sometimes gets me to wondering…. who’s playing ME in real life?
How do you pack so much insight into one panel? I’ve spent my whole life feeling like I don’t belong here, I’m crashing the party and sooner or later everyone is going to find out that I’m an imposter and throw me out. I have to work so hard at studying how everyone else behaves so I can seem “natural” and not give myself away. It can be exhausting sometimes.
BTW, love how the wainscot molding jogs around the light switch! I have a special affinity for quirky old houses.
Yeah, that wainscotting. it was a cool old house in east Portland.
@Kona In case you ever come back: “imposter syndrome” is a real thing, google it sometime and maybe it’ll lead to some insight.
Know what you mean, though. The “real” us is supposed to never yell at your noisy neighbour, never get angry in public, and take at least one day off of your weekend to work at the office. All this without a single thing to give back but your devotion and your smile. It’s crazy.
