I don’t mind greyhound, but as long as they were on it (at least a few days) it can become pretty grueling.

I’ve done the coach trip (Greyhound and other carriers) from SE Wisconsin to Spokane and back three times now…I much prefer Greyhound. They build time for modest breaks into their trips. Jefferson Lines is efficient, cuts them to near-zero, and that’s fine if you’re just doing single hops; transferring to JL on the last quarter of a trip, when one *needs* breaks to stretch (after being on the road for 36+ hours previously) was not fun.
My last Greyhound ride was in 1966, over the entirety of what was then Route 66, from L.A. to Chicago to begin my Navy training at Great Lakes NTS. It was grueling, and I used all my winter’s meager pay to fly back in the spring.
