   Actually, political parties are their own invention. They are not contemplated in the Constitution, and the Electoral College takes no note of any such political combine — it only deals with candidates for President, not their political affiliation. For a time in the 1820s, briefly, there was little party rancor and we did have Presidents and Vice-Presidents from different parties.

   Don’t blame the institution for the abuse wreaked through it. Hate the playas, not the game.
