I still totally shut down and dislike the world when I’m around television. It’s just not my thing I guess. It was interesting making that a part of her personality.

I have avoided as much TV as I could for 20 years or so. I don’t own one, and I only have to be in the same room with it occasionally when I visit others. I find it annoyingly moronic and vapid, and the fact that others watch it decreases my opinion of them. Does that make me a bad person?
I not only have had no regular access to television for over 30 years, but I was chosen to be a Nielsen Rating household. Weird…
You guys have the luxury of mulling over the pros and cons of not having TV. It’s a safe bet none of you have kids.
@Steve, I grew up with almost no television. It was a little hard at times, but I’m very thankful now.
I was raised by T.V. (and I mean that more than someone who means it ironically) but now I realize that I am an active consumer of it, not passive.
YouTube at least offers something more than the status quo, and most of the channels I watch are education-related. It’s nice to passively watch things that make you feel like you learned a little something. :)
