   So, if she wants one or the other, does that mean she *doesn’t* want sex from a guy who’s “serious”? I’m not sure I get that.

   More that she doesn’t want someone who there’s sex but ambiguity on the relationship potential, where it might go back and forth or be messy. She doesn’t want someone who is unsure whether they want a fling or a relationship.

   From all I’ve seen, relationships are messy. Not sure you can even have one without that part.
