I know that is an utterly ridiculous idea/concept, and definitely beyond my abilities, but i was really really charmed by the idea.

When you first ran the story about the orrery I wanted to make one of my own; but was also defeated by the mechanics.
The closest I came was a large model of the solar system I put up in a classroom. I did use a clock mechanism to move Mercury, Venus and Earth (until they fell down; I am not a clock maker) but the other planets just had to hang from the ceiling.
Full disclosure: I am married to a woman for whom I placed 100+ stick-on luminescent stars and planets on the ceiling of our bedroom. I can see the glitter of her happy grin by their glow when we turn the lights off at night. Life’s a roller coaster with her, but I love her to pieces.
Believe it….. orrery not!
