The late Stanley Baldwin wrote that writing is like striptease — a dance of revelation, performed slowly, with much gyration, misdirection, and hints of promises not yet made. Is cartooning like striptease, then? Quite aside from your remark, Chris, I think it must be. Revelation only appears to be the point. Misdirection and hinting are much more the creator’s work. There’s a reason why punchlines always come last.
