Back when I was an actual kid, we had something called the “Museum of Science and Industryâ€, which was a heaven on earth for a bright, inquisitive youngster. It challenged the intellect with thoughtful displays of current and future technology. Now they have only a dumbed-down “science-y†theme park called “California Science Centerâ€, where you can pay extra to see the Endeavor (which is impressive, I’ll grant) or watch a movie. Maybe it’s the difference in perspective between pre- and post-adulthood, but I can’t help feeling that we’re letting our children down.
Can’t let our kids get smarter than us, now can we? Otherwise they might think voting matters, and try to bring the old Republic back. When it’s supposed to be dead and forgotten.
