I’ve heard several stories of workers having people they know come in. Sometimes quite awkward.

In a very different context, this happened to me. But it was a relative, catching me in a place I was known to publicly deride and disavow. I couldn’t tell her I was working. Let alone at what. But she and I were both fully dressed, thank goodness. THAT would have been awkward.
Ironic callback. Once again, ouch!
In grad school, a guy I knew with the same major from my undergrad transferred to my university. Guy was a bona fide genius in math, physics, computers, and the ladies even though he was shaped like a pear and not much to look at. He also loved the strip clubs. Second semester he was the TA of an undergrad math class but didn’t have to show up for class – just have office hours to help out the professor’s students. Lo and behold, one of the strippers (who he hadn’t really gotten to know) showed up and was quite embarrassed. He just laughed and gave her the help she needed.
