And Amazon…
this one bugged me. Returning a gift to make a political point
I could see that if it was from a friend. But as a holiday thing from a company one works for?
The strip doesn’t make it clear if it’s from the company or from Lily personally.
Either way, Bruno doesn’t even say “thanks, anyway.”
In such situations, I say ‘thank you’ and recycle the odious thing. Feelings saved all around, and a pitch for corporate supremacy put where it needs to go.
I think her heart was in the right place, even if socially awkward. That Bruno was TRYING to encourage her boss to support local business.
And biz gifts are usually not with much feelings, as I recall. And pitching it is basically giving the corporation free money.
Anyhow, yes, not socially ept. I agree.
The unused balance on a corporate giveaway might be tax-deductible, but it is not money they can bank. I have a clear conscience not fulfilling the purpose of a ‘giveaway’ to increase foot traffic, revenue and possibly profit. That they CAN bank, and I will deny that as long as I am able.
