And Amy is of course not expected to make any changes at all, it must all be on Bruno.
DYSFUNCTION.
I’m thinking of Katalin as Bruno’s “Kobiyashi Maru” style no-win scenario.
Fewer Klingon warships, but just as much incoming hostile fire. (Emotional hostile fire in this case, of course.)
@ronald I think it’s more that Amy wants to be sure Bruno is open to having the conversation Amy needs to have before moving forward. Maybe Amy will have gotten something wrong and her perspective might need to change, too, but at this point we don’t know where she’s coming from (or, rather, we only know as much as Bruno does). Bruno’s presence in her life has been erratic and has kinda fucked her up because of her newfound, clashing ideals and life. She’s missing out on Bruno’s perspective on the whole thing as well. So I think the conversation will be a positive one. The turmoil between Bruno and Amy seems to all come from their absence from each other’s lives. Hopefully they’ll find a good balance in time.
The Amy we see before us today, let us not forget, is Bruno’s creation, the result of a purposeful decision to cut her off from the TV and introduce her to reading when Bruno was press-ganged into taking care of her while her parents (Bruno’s aunt and uncle) were on vacation without her. That change has allowed her to become the self-possessed, self-assured and judgmental young lady we see here. Personally, I prefer this Amy to the potential submissive media drone she was on track to becoming. In short — this is the Amy Bruno changed. Now she’s returning the favor.
And of such is the kingdom of Heaven.
This conversation serves no purpose.
And I still don’t know what “thirteen ain’t thirteen any more” means.
