Wasn’t she…? I thought that she…?
Well, that’s it, I’ve lost the plot completely and I’ve decided to just accept that.
Chocolate is always at the top of my lists. Remember, chocolate is not just for breakfast anymore.
@ronald Want a hand finding the plot again? No jokes, I get lost in long plots, too. :)
Her life doesn’t have a plot, more a series of vignettes. (My favorite was when she brought the circus into Stanley’s house.) The theme on the overall strip seems to be her search for a plot.
Chocolate is definitely a good place to start.
Bruno has been clanging down the long watered-steel pipe of life searching for her purpose, or the purpose to life, and despite her occasional damp handholds and sometimes clangorous impacts, she can find sense and purpose in neither one. A way to meld the two into herself continues to evade her, and so we watch her bounce and strike and occasionally leave long fingernail-marks in the damp, not knowing any better than she where and how and in what form she’ll end up.

Thanks for the offer but I’ve decided it’s easier to Just Not Care.
IIRC from the strip’s original run

Bruno’s Seattle friends and Bruno’s New York State friends eventually appear in the same strip at a party that concludes the strip, so once we reach that point, I’ll know where Bruno’s located based on which set of friends flew across the country for the party. ;-)
Obviously, she’s in New York State at the moment, but I thought she still lived in Seattle and was just visiting. Since, if one can’t find a place to stay in the locale that one is visiting, the obvious alternative is to just GO HOME, that clearly wasn’t the case.
There was at least one point where Bruno tried going home before this point but realized that it felt too stifling, like she’d be stuck there forever and miserable. Right now, she fully acknowledges that she’s got nowhere better to be, but she doesn’t know where the search for “greener grass” will lead her (when deep down I think she knows that’s she’s confused between the greener grass being a part of what’s inside or outside of herself and if even getting that feeling is possible and/or fair).
*phew* Trying to be “the best you can be” (or even just “happy”) according to a self-made mutable scale isn’t an easy path in life.
(probably too late to be noticed, but what the heck)
If she’s going to stay in New York State indefinitely, shouldn’t she at least send for her Cat, though? Cats CARE, y’know. They don’t always demonstrate it (especially comic strip cats) but they *do* care. :-|
Ah. Well, that *is* a thread I’ve lost, too… or at least Cat hasn’t made an appearance for too long between comics.
And Bruno’s getting money together because she doesn’t know where else (*if* anywhere) she wants to go. She’s getting money there because… well… she accepts that she was taken away and is seeing it as the intervention it was (probably) meant to be. Just because you live somewhere it doesn’t mean you love the place or wouldn’t trade it for something else in a heartbeat.
