   A little reminder that the chief obstacle to human liberty and happiness is other people’s human liberty and happiness. We so resent those happier than us, whose happiness is independent of ours, who ought to be dependent on us for their happiness if little else. And how we despise those who treat us the same indifferent way, as if we were not the most important being in their lives. No wonder we are the only species to have artificially created alcohol.

   Expensive jewelry, romantic presumptions, spiriting Bruno away to a place Bruno has never been before and where she knows (almost) nobody, where she’s basically dependent on Gina for nearly everything…If Gina were a man, Bruno might be gradually coming to the realization that she’s trapped in a slasher/”torture porn” film…
