Oh, and suddenly we’re back with skittish co-worker woman. Okay.
Makes me think of the t-shirt for first responders I’ve seen… “If you FIB, I will paddle you” Meaning defibrillation, and showing that set of paddles, what were YOU thinking?!
It’s a mistake, as I’ve said, to use your employees as a sounding-board for your introspection. Kitty took it personally, which Bruno had to correct, but though she seems to be adapting to her boss’s maundering in her presence with salient good humor, Bruno has no idea whatsoever how fortunate she is that Kitty’s not driven to go up the ladder. It would be relatively easy to put together a dossier of faults to use not to blackmail management (or Bruno), but to prepare oneself to be a credible replacement. Like not exposing her personal life to underlings. A bad habit that will be corrected, either when it becomes public knowledge (and laughed at and mocked) or somebody finds a weakness to use against her — and uses it with satisfactory glee.
Mail room, loading dock, warehouse, accounts receivable — they have different names and business functions but they can all be shark tanks.
How could Bruno be fired for being bad at her job when Gina hired her KNOWING that Bruno would be bad at her job? That’s a pre-existing condition if I’ve ever heard of one.
Did I fail to notice when Bruno got her own place, or is she still living with Gina (presumably rent-free)?
If the latter, then she not only has a job she doesn’t know how to do but she’s living with a woman with whom she has no intention of starting a relationship even though she (Gina) WANTS to be in a relationship with her. The same woman who gave her the job that she doesn’t know how to do and is evidently going to keep her there no matter how demonstrably she sucks at it.
Meaning that Bruno receives both rent and a salary with neither of them requiring much of an effort on her part while remaining emotionally troubled. I guess some people are just NEVER happy…
Maybe money can’t buy happiness but LACK of money can’t buy ANYTHING.
Alternately:
“Money can’t buy happiness.” At least, that’s what the people with money want the rest of us to THINK…
;-)
Sure it can. You get humility, which comes at quite a discount.
