Funny how “california falling into the sea” was something I think I commonly heard in New England, but out here (on the west coast, where I am now) nobody mentions it, I think because it’s simply too absurd to bother.
Although up here in western Washington we talk about Mt. Rainier mudsliding everything west of the mountains in tho the sea. Go figure.
