The punchline of this one, is one of those “truths” I question the truth of. Do most people make things hard because they crave a struggle/challenge, or is it just the neurotic minority like myself? I’d poll you all, but I imagine it’s a skewed group. :)
I like that this strip has a deeper sentiment behind it. Because, when you don’t believe, but you’re tired of making all your decisions for yourself without the guidance of an old book, which religion (which you don’t believe) can you turn to? I was in 6th grade when I realized (on my own) that all religions have “proof” and I would never know which was correct.
Of course, the surface of the strip is just her complaining because she’s having a rough day. :)
I had just visited a friend of mine when I wrote this strip, and she had been getting deeper and deeper into eastern religion/philosophy/thought. She kept talking about how she was working to simplify her life.
After that visit, I never heard from her again. My theory is that I was “simplified” out, but I’ll never know.
I wonder sometimes if religious folk who use expressions such as “God only knows if such-and-such will occur” think of the phrase differently than when I do.
Although, upon reflection, I think I can assume that almost EVERYONE thinks differently about their phrasing than I do.
The first panel is my favorite line.
This strip also reminds me of college days, hanging out in cafes half asleep. Ah. Good days, when it was still okay to be unproductive.
Oh, and if you didn’t notice in the copyright line, the answer is “resolute”
That’s one of the joys of nonsense, is if you lose your place, you don’t have to find it again.
This strip is also an early illustration of my love for rhymes.
***EDIT #2****
Everything went fine, I’m home, and all will be on schedule. :)

**EDIT****
Today, Monday, I’m having some sudden unexpected surgery. Should be quick in-and-out today, but it’s surgery, so ya never know. And I haven’t uploaded the week’s strips yet (editing this from my phone). -Christopher
****END EDIT***
This was a fun strip for me. Since “Bruno” was unusual in it’s daily long format by being one panel, I thought I should switch it up, and rather than do 3 or 4, i did 18.
This is a silly little reference to Saturday Night Live’s Landshark.
This is one of those communication issues which most of us has been guilty of one time or another. Someone sets a boundary, we ignore it or recognize it only half-heartedly because we find it unreasonable, and then are surprised they meant it.
Not something to ponder about on a first date necessarily. In a pick-up situation, I suppose anything’s fair game. :)
