Life can have a harsh pendulum. And sometimes at the bottom of the swing it can be hardest to act or change, and sometimes you can make strong changes that are poorly thought out. Not a good place.
An odd side-effect of writing humor, is one can get REALLY into the mechanics of it, and so the idea of mentioning unmentionable subjects at inappropriate times can sometimes fail to occur to one.
Not speaking about anyone in particular (cough)
When playing with the dreidel, if you get “gimmel,” you get everything. If you get “nun,” you get nothing. but if you get “heh,” you get half. So, he is ludicrously suggesting that the boys say “all or nothing, no half way.”
Plus, you don’t battle against depression, you don’t fix it, you battle to keep yourself alive and mentally healthy.
And so it begins (and will continue for a long time in the strip), an intense attempt to deconstruct the concept of stripping.
