I believe this strip takes place in the “Old Courthouse” in St Louis.
Man-o-man-o-man. Do you remember Y2K? Everyone wondering if the computers would all collapse and planes would start falling out of the sky, and in a week we’d be living in hunter-gatherer tribes.
I was in L.A. at the time. Not more reassuring.
I’m surprised that Yeats wasn’t talked about more around Y2K. I think the poem (“The Second Coming”) was how for 2,000 years we go away from god, and then the next 2,000 we go back towards it, and on and on.
Maybe nobody talked about it because that idea is way too frikkin’ depressing.
This was my reaction to St. Louis’s “Gateway Arch,” I didn’t know you could go in it. Neat! And you go up by these little round elevators which travel in that upward curve. :)
It was a weird feeling of reprieve after Y2K.
And yes. A female president, please? Any day now?
It is tough when you’re the one doing the breaking up, and you want to remain friends, and they’re not so much into it. :-/
