How funny. Just this week our cat spilled a canister of water all over my new laptop. “Funny” meaning I’m still trying not to cry of flip out.
See what I did there?
In defense of my idiocy, I had to look up what “split infinitives” were to write this one.
Speaking as someone who had been having PB&Js for lunch since kindergarten, I side with Cat on this one.
Having a laptop really changed the game for me, especially since I made the switch to deriving all my income from my comics and freelance. On the flip side, every vacation is a bit of a work vacation. :)
I wrote this before traveling overseas in 2001. I think was me trying to express my fears about the idea.
Before I saw “Lion in Winter,” (an AMAZING movie with Peter O’Toole, Katharine Hepburn, Anthony Hopkins, and Timothy Dalton, among others) I witnessed two slightly drunk men, a history professor and an english professor, laughing uncontrollably as they tossed quotes from the movie of each other. I saw it as soon after as I was able, and still remember the mirth in their voices and tried to capture if here.
I admit, it is easy to be dismissive of death until you’ve experienced. I didn’t experience it until later in life, so I got to really witness that.
The silence of extended alone-time can be really intense, especially the contrast when you suddenly try to talk or you hear someone else talk.
