Easy to get comfortable in the world you’ve created and forget it doesn’t exist outside your head. Until it’s published, of course.
The people in the stories I write for myself are awesome, and they have amazing adventures. They live in a metaphorical crystal city of love and harmony, of quick wit and gentle banter, and they never have bad days and bitchy bosses, bratty kids or horrible exes who won’t let go of the past. Do we express our rage through our art, or escape into it? Perhaps it can be both, just not in the same piece.
